I’ve learned that my body doesn’t take well to flying economy class for more than six hours; there’s no position that’s entirely comfortable. Fortunately we had an empty seat between us so one of us could catnap in a level position – head down, feet up – while the other wandered around for 20 minutes. Our flight was two hours late leaving due to weather but we managed to catch our connecting flight in Frankfurt by hustling. Our suitcases, of course, didn’t arrive with us but eventually showed up. For the next few days we are staying in what was East Berlin.
On arrival we met friends Jerry and Marylou and had dinner along the River Spree at the Brauhaus Georgbraeu. The restaurant is lower left by the statue of St. George and the dragon.
I had to check out the schnitzel and potato salad,
and Marylou ordered the Thuringer and kraut.
Big plates and big food. We’re enroute to a Vermont Bike Tours (VBT) trip in eastern Germany and will be cycling in the area between Berlin and Dresden. At home, Ross has been diligently training for the trip.
But first, we have Berlin to explore.
