Our final hiking day of the trip through a forested area sounds easier. But, we immediately started with a steep uphill and it went on and on. We must be taking a breather here.

Then we found ourselves in the middle of a chestnut tree lumber area. These ubiquitous trees, which are also water-resistant, are used in lemon orchards, vineyards, and paper mills.

We reached the top for a view of the Mediterranean. Now we were walking near the top of the Lattari mountains.

All week the guides have been talking about the “green door” and we finally found it.

On our way to lunch.

Lunch was at the home of Virginia, a really nice lady and wonderful cook.

Looks like Vincenzo is checking out the eggplant Parmesan and other wonderful vegetable dishes including some of the best-ever potato salad with tomatoes and green beans.

Our group ate outside on the terrace.

We go back to Positano for a leisurely afternoon of resting, swimming, and shopping. This view is looking down at the town from our hotel balcony.

The hotel was stretched along a hillside with the lobby at street level and the guest rooms below. We could reach our room – six floors down – by elevator, but those below us had to ride on a funicular.
