Spain: The Wine Road- Day 7

Our breakfasts usually provided lots of fruit options.

And lots of bread options.

My choices also included beans.

After breakfast we shuttled out of Córdoba to Espejo. Our bike ride was along the Rita Del Vino or Wine Road. This was a hilly region covered with olive trees and vineyards. Mainly white wine is produced here. That downhill out of town was spectacular.

In addition to the vineyards, we also saw Jerry among the poppies.

Tom cruising along.

Mid-morning van stop for water refills.

Another view of the area.

After about 12 miles, we stop for lunch at an area bodega, the Lamar La Primilla. We are always hungry. No way to lose weight on these trips.

After lunch we rode toward the Sabbética Mountain range on the Via Verde, a bike path. Looks smooth here but was a fairly rough bike path. We rode about another eight miles to our hotel.

Our next two nights were at the Hacienda Miranda in the middle of olive groves and just off the bike path.

The hacienda dates to the end of the 19th century and was once an olive oil mill. After checking in – there was a swallow’s nest with baby birds above the registration desk – we relaxed beside the pool. Dinner was in the taverna where we admired the stone fireplace.
