Day 5: Rainy Day

We start the day with pouring rain and most of us opted to wait for an afternoon ride hoping the weather would improve.

We had route review anyway and only four rode out with Felix – including Tom- even though Felix told them they would get soaked.

But it was nice to stay on the barge and read and look around as we traveled. We had one locks to go through and a nice looking sailboat was next to us.

Debby, Marylou, and Jerry hung out in the lounge area for awhile.

The captain had his pup on board and he was relaxing in the wheelhouse.

The boat stopped after lunch and our companions decided to bike. Debby said it poured rain just after they left but eventually stopped. Ross was dealing with a cold/allergy and we stayed on board with a few others. Plus, since my hip surgery I’m slightly more cautious. If I’m caught in the rain, fine, I’ll deal with it, but I won’t start out in it.  Too much risk with slick roads.

After we pick everybody up and before dinner, the captain has the crew tell something about themselves. This is Franco and Evita, two of our four-person crew. All the crew were terrific and busy, busy all the time.

The guides also set up a Belgium beer- tasting event.

After the beer-tasting, we head back downstairs to the dining room.

Better weather tomorrow we hope.
