Rain this morning so our second day became a shopping and reading day. We started with breakfast out again – we had not made it to a grocery store yet. There are only two full-service grocery stores in northern Door, The Piggly Wiggly is in Sister Bay along State Route 57 and the Main Street Market is in Egg Harbor via County Road EE. Both are about nine miles from Bailey’s Harbor. Otherwise there are several convenience stores including one at the gas station in downtown Bailey’s Harbor.
Breakfast in Bailey’s Harbor is offered at both the Harbor Fish Market and the Heirloom Cafe. We like the pancakes at the Harbor Fish Market – they are crispy around the edges and not doughy in the middle – and elect to go there.

Then we walked a block and stopped at Nathan Nichols & Company, a furniture store. They have some interesting and very nice stuff. We saw a dining table there in June and thought we would pop by to see if it was on sale. It is, but we still can’t decide. But lots of fun to look around here.

Then we drove to the bay side of the county again and stopped at the Edgewood Orchard Gallery along Peninsula Players Road midway between Egg Harbor and Fish Creek. We’ve been told it’s one of the most interesting galleries here and we agree.

I was looking for one of their “little fat animals” to put in the garden at home, but alas, none were available at the moment.

In additional to their outdoor art, the gallery has paintings, sculpture, and jewelry,

The gallery currently exhibits the work of about 150 artists including both indoor and outdoor exhibits.

Our next stop was at On Deck, a clothing store in Fish Creek. There is one in Sister Bay too. I never have much luck here but it seems there are more options for men and Ross can usually add to his wardrobe.
Next on our agenda was a stop at the Blue Dolphin House just a mile or so north of Ephraim but with a Sister Bay address. They focus on mainly home and garden items. I purchased a couple of cards to use in my junk journaling and a couple of Christmas gifts.
Another half mile or so north is the Fine Line Designs Gallery. It features paintings, jewelry, ceramics, wood, and glass items and also has an outdoor sculpture garden. I was focused on jewelry. Saw some earrings in June and wanted to check them out again.

Other favorite shops that we did not make it to today include McKeefry & Yeoman’s just outside Ephraim.

We also like to look around the Maxwell House in Egg Harbor. This shop has furniture and other home decorative items.

The Maxwell House can be counted on for some fun and interesting items.

And another shop we try to visit is the Clay Bay Pottery between Ellison Bay and Gill’s Rock. I have previously acquired one of their “Lakeshore Ladies” vases. The vases are called this because they decorate tables at the Lakeshore Restaurant in Gill’s Rock.

We did make one more stop today at Wilson’s in Ephraim.

This restaurant has been around a long time, it’s a historic landmark, and a stop here for ice cream is almost a requirement. It’s right on the main route and across from the bay. And Wilson’s is a super, super busy place in the summer.

You can also order sandwiches here but the ice cream is the focal point and ranges from a simple cone to lots of decadent choices. We counted this as lunch for the day.

After shopping we return to the Yacht Club for the rest of the afternoon. Dinner was at the Waterfront Restaurant in Sister Bay on the other side of the peninsula. I had called the day we arrived only to find they were booked up for the next week. But, I left a phone number in case of a cancellation and we got lucky. We had to hustle in order not to be late and it was exactly a 15-minute drive there, more or less obeying the speed limit, on State Road 57. This is a fairly isolated area and if you travel after dark be wary of deer.
We love the food at the Waterfront. Tonight I had their wedge salad and small plate of shrimp and grits. Wonderful. Ross had the shrimp and grits also but with lobster bisque. The photo below is us leaving the Waterfront almost exactly to the day, two years ago before Covid. Probably had shrimp and grits that night too.
